Instant De-Frizzer from Living Proof is a dry conditioning spray for all hair types that claims to instantly tame 92% of frizz while adding softness, smoothing and shine with no residue.

Ingredients: Water, Myrica Cerifera (Bayberry) Fruit Wax, Maltodextrin/VP Copolymer, Jasminum Grandiflorum (Jasmine) Flower Wax, Glycereth-26, VP/Dimethylaminoethylmethacrylate Copolymer, Acrylates Copolymer, Glyceryl Behenate, Isopentyldiol, Polyalkylaminoester-1 (PBAE), Oleth-10, Petrolatum, Polyacrylamide, PPG-2 Myristyl Ether Propionate, Laureth-7, Phenoxyethanol, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Hydroxyacetophenone, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Ceteareth-25, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Ethanol, Fragrance, Linalool, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Citronellol, Benzyl Salicylate, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Citral, Limonene.

This product has an oil blend that mimics the natural oils found in the hair. It provides UV protection. Like all Living Proof products, this contains the Healthy Hair Molecule that smooths, provides shine, tames frizz and seals the hair cuticle.

Directions: For medium to thick hair, hold canister 6 to 10 inches away and spray on dry hair in a sweeping motion, then smooth hair with hands or comb. For fine hair, focus on applying from mid-lengths to ends.
To spot treat, spray in hand and apply to specific sections.

I have fine, dry hair that dries very poofy and frizzy. My second-day hair is less frizzy and more manageable than freshly washed hair.

Instant De-Frizzer is a clear, dry, fine-mist spray that is very heavy on the fragrance, similar to the dry shampoo, and initially interferes with other scents worn. Because this is a very fine mist, the scent kind of sticks in the nose and throat for a couple minutes. The fragrance fades after about 30 to 45 minutes to a more manageable clean scent. I used this spray on freshly washed, air dried hair.

I did a light spray all over my hair and smoothed with my hands. This is a very light-weight product with no residue, stickiness or heaviness. It provides shine and makes my hair feel silky and less dry. It has some instant de-poof and de-frizz (I would say it is more smoothing than de-frizzing), but after a couple minutes my hair started to frizz and poof again, so I sectioned my hair and sprayed a bit more. The effect does not last very long. After about 15 minutes, my hair got frizzy, poofy and felt staticky around my face.

A hair serum or light oil would likely work better; the Olaplex No. 7 oil (silicone) is light-weight and provides smoothing and silkiness; I have been using Fable and Mane’s HoliRoots Treatment Oil (silicone-free and heavily scented) on the lengths of my hair that tames frizz and smooths the hair; Briogeo hair oil (silicone-free) tames frizz, but is heavy and greasy; I’ve used the Morrocanoil Treatment (silicone) a couple times now and generally like it for smoothing the hair.

While Living Proof’s No Frizz Instant De-Frizzer provides some de-poof, de-frizz and silkiness to the hair, the effect does not last long nor does it work particularly well. I would not repurchase Living Proof’s No Frizz Instant De-Frizzer.
